Back in Mobile to check on Mom and Dad. They seem to be doing well as expected. Nice to be here but it is really hot.
I have returned to CT for my oldest sons marriage to a wonderful woman Mary. They are truly meant for each other and I am looking ahead to a Daughter in Law.
The wedding is June 2nd and araingments are in full swing. I need a new white shirt for my Tux and a good haircut.
I will post more later.
I arrived today at Chemin-A-Haut State Park in Bastrop Louisiana. There will be a dedication of the grave of Peter Moore on Saturday April 28th.
Peter Moore (1834 – 1878) served in the Confederate States Army and is buried here in Bastrop. The cemetery was recently rediscovered and on Saturday the Daughters of the Confederacy and the Sons of the Confederacy will be present at a re-dedication of the grave. Lisa Franklin was instrumental in locating and re-marking the grave.
I will post some pictures after the ceremony. It has been about 47 years since I last came to Bastrop and I look forward to seeing some of the family while here and find out if the old Moorehouse Garage is still standing.
Mark worked on the yard while Rick and I applied compound to the kitchen walls. I hope to finish the compound today and Rick will lay the tile this week. That leaves setting the kitchen cabinets soon and then my part on the front of the duplex will be done as Mark will do the painting.
This has been fun but I am looking forward to my return to Connecticut for my son Justins marriage on June 2.
Well it is Monday and the rain is pounding and thunder bellowing! This will be tough on the Azaleas that are in full bloom, wish I had taken the pictures yesterday. We are now putting the kitchen floor in the Ann St house and will start the kitchen cabinets this week.
It was my birthday on the 10′th, had fun with my brother Mark.
We completed the repairs of my Aunt’s house, it was damaged by some vandals a few months ago and are now going to work on my brothers home in downtown Mobile AL.
I will be in La for the Moore Family dedication in April.
Well it is now winter here in Mobile, it is also about 70 degrees outside and that is very nice. Sure beats the winters in Connecticut (sorry to my sons, they love the winter).
My aunts house was vandalized so Mark and I have been trying to get it back in shape for sale. The vandal’s broke all the chandeliers and windows in the doors. Glass was everywhere. I have repaired most of the electrical and Mark has patched the walls and is now painting.
I am looking forward to my son’s coming down for Mardi Gras this year. I’m also looking toward traveling to Dublin and visit the Coleman family.
I will be back in Connecticut before June for Justin and Marys wedding.
I have been having lots of fun helping Jordan with his new home, we gutted the house and are now rebuilding the interior. It is great working with my son and when both are there it is the best feeling in the world. I think we will have the interior finished by July 10th. I will post pictures when done.
The weather was mild and the season enjoyed. It is now a new year and I am in the process of planning my next travel adventure. My goal is to get to Salt Lake City for some genealogy research but to paraphrase what the wise man once said; It is the journey and not the destination that yields the greatest pleasure.
If anyone has suggestions for my trip please let me know, I will be leaving Mobile Alabama heading west then north to Salt Lake City.
I will post my journey as it is planned.
Best Wishes to all my friends and family and all those motorhome enthusiasts across the country. Have a great New Year!
Sorry, just had to say it is warm and I am loving it! Ok, so it does get cold some nights but when you have lived in Connecticut for the last 38 years this seems very nice.
I took the Wanderlust to Deep South RV and had the windows removed and re-sealed along with adding some patches to the roof. Since the work was done I located a few leaks and Deep South RV fixed them right away. I recommend Deep South RV in Mobile Alabama for your RV needs, they are a great company and friendly staff.
My current plans are to cover the RV until March when my brother Garry and I will head to Gainsville Florida for the Gator Nationals Drag Race. We have gone to Englishtown Raceway in NJ several times and this will be a new event for us. There is nothing like an 8000 horsepower funny car leaving the line on the way to 300 miles per hour in under 4 seconds.
I am enjoying my stay in Mobile with my parents, brothers and sister. It has been a long time since we were all together for the holidays.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS, MERRY CHRISTMAS to all my friends and family.
